Just JanuaryWhat a month January has been. Koopa make history by entering the chart without a record label or even a record (check out their free video), from out of nowhere Just Jack steals the second spot, Mika still holds number one. That's a whole lot of new talent for the New Year. Meanwhile along with all of the above, we've got the Oscar-nominated Children Of Men and a Sci-Fi selection inside of Tardis-like proportions. It's all here. |

Just Jack - OvertonesHaving spent the first few weeks of 2007 bothering the charts (and hitting number 2) with the brilliant X-Factor bashing Starz In Their Eyes, Jack is back with his sophomore album Overtones. Seamlessly blending styles like hip-hop, disco and house into a neat pop package, Mr. Allsopp has delivered an early contender for album of the year. Interesting fact: Just Jack is a friend of Elton John, has a degree in furniture design and has previously worked as a washer upper and a flower arranger (although we don't think he means at the same time). See the Starz video here. |

Findlay Brown - Separated By The SeaAlthough you might not know the name (yet), you've probably heard the song before - close your eyes and think of airport terminals... Findlay's track Come Home was the soundtrack to the recent Mastercard Christmas ad. The inspiration for the songs wasn't so joyful as those reunited relationships though - he began writing songs for his girlfriend after he became conscious of being "a total nob", and sent them off to her native Denmark in CD cases packed with dried flowers. Which might give you some idea as to how lovely his music is. But that's not to say he's wet like some other singer-songwriters (you know who we're talking about) - there's a real depth to Findlay's songs, as he tackles the demons from his past in this uplifting album. It's not out until 18 February, but don't wait until then to forget it - pre-order it now. |

Wippit Goes Sci-Fi!When Wippit announced our deal with the BBC last year a man dressed in tin foil arrived at the reception of Wippit Towers the same afternoon asking whether we will be featuring the Dr. Who archives. We were scared. Would he be angry if we were? Can we tell him we are? Will he zap us? Why the tin foil? After a little explanation he told us that his name was Keith, was dressed as a 'Cyber Man' on his way to a convention and just happened to be changing bus outside our offices so he thought he'd pop in. What a relief. Well now we can confirm what Keith already knows that were offering a massive collection of British Science Fiction including Dr. Who, Blake's 7, the innovative Quatermass, Superman and just for light relief The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. |
