Does the concept
of “hawtness” mean anything to you? It soon will! It all started
with an innocent picture before becoming 2006’s hottest internet
sensation – love ‘em or hate ‘em, there’s no way these square-jawed,
hair-gel worshipping misfits will leave you sat on the fence:
leehotti.com
- a kiss for all you haters from Lee Hotti!
And if that’s not enough, learn to dance like a hotti Gotti New
Jersey guido: check out this
video.
If there’s anything out there – funny, bizarre or just plain weird
that you want to share with us, just drop us a line at

New in this
week |
|
Sparks - Hello Young Lovers:
Sparks return with their 20th album and have surpassed its
predecessor, by building on its orchestral template and adding a
cornucopia of multi-layered vocals and instrumental arrangements.
Straight out of leftfield, Hello Young Lovers is one of 2006’s more
original releases.. |
|
Freemasons feat. Amanda
Wilson - Watchin':
Hot on the heels of last year’s Love On My Mind dance sensation
comes this dance floor monster. Meaty, beaty, big and bouncy,
Watchin’ is utterly irresistible. |
|
Maximo Park - I Want You To Stay:
Currently on tour with Arctic Monkeys, the angular Geordies offer
another slice jerking rhythms from their hugely successful A Certain
Trigger album. |
|
Mogwai - Glasgow Mega Snake:
Band
manager Alan McGee is telling anyone who will listen that Mogwai’s
upcoming Mr Beast album is the best art-rock record he’s worked with
since My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless. Take one listen of Glasgow
Mega Snake and you’ll see his point. |
|
The Isles - Eve Of The Battle:
New York’s The
Isles are the Melodic label’s first international signing and it’s
not difficult to see what the fuss is about. Blending gritty
Americana with a Brit rock awareness, you’ll be hearing plenty more
from this stunning quartet. |
|
Spank Rock - Rick Rubin:
Currently
on tour in the US with our very own MIA, Naeem Hanks – aka Spank
Rock – delights in bad taste booty-tastic lyrics with a sound that’s
redolent of The Dust Brothers. Moreover, he’s the only American MC
to cite Dizzee Rascal as an influence.

Competition Time!
Congratulations to
Amanda who walked away with the tickets to see
Barefoot. Well done!
Meanwhile, we just can’t get enough of the
Barefoot album round
these parts and neither, it seems, can you! This collection of dance
covers has been overhauled both musically and lyrically – an
acoustic version of Underworld’s Born Slippy, anyone? We’ve got two
copies of the album (out 27th Feb) and another pair of tickets to
see the band to give away. To bag yourself a copy, just answer this simple
question: Which barefooted Eurovision contestant collaborated with
The Smiths on a version of Hand In Glove? Was it:
a) Sandie Shaw
b) Sandy Gall
c) Major General Sandy Sharpe
Send your answer to us by no later than 5pm, Monday 27th February
2006!
Email here. Good luck!
Barefoot are
playing at the
CUBE
& STAR, 39a Hoxton Sq, London on the 8th March - don't miss! News on
the Barefoot website

The Buzzcocks - Brand New Single 'Wish
I Never Loved You' Out Now!
Not only did The Buzzcocks change the course of Mancunian music by
promoting The Sex Pistols at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in 1976 –
future members of Joy Division, The Smiths and…er…Simply Red were
all in attendance – they were one of the first punk bands to deal
with teenage hormonal ennui by pairing it with a buzzsaw pop
sensibility that still influences bands to this very day. As new
single, Wish I Never Loved You from their forthcoming album,
Flat-Pack Philosophy displays, they’ve still got the buzz, cock! And
so will you… new album due on March 6th with UK tour. |
