WIPPIT PODCAST PUTS MAN ON MOON
ALL DAY BREAKFAST IS NUMBER THREE ON THE MENU
London 4th June 2007 – Multi-Award winning broadcaster Danny Baker podcast “The All Day Breakfast Show” has stormed the iTunes chart to take the Number 3 position within a week of it’s launch. The show distributed by London based entertainment download pioneer, Wippit.
The All Day Breakfast Show is an independent production and is the highest placed commercial podcast in the chart. Its remarkable success has been achieved without the aid of any TV or radio support, relying on word of mouth and the quality of the programme to fire it into the Top 5 within three days. Although Baker broadcasts daily each afternoon for BBC London the All Day Breakfast Show is a unique programme and not a rehash of previously broadcasted programmes or a ‘Best of’ compilation. It’s not quite putting man on the moon, but not far off.
The All Day Breakfast Show is recorded daily in London with five new episodes each week of around fifty minutes in length and includes phone-ins and emails from podcast listeners. Helping things along are Baker’s regular team of sidekicks David Kuo, Baylen Leonard and Amy Lamé along with studio and phone guests such as Manic Street Preachers’ Nicky Wire.
Danny Baker comments, “We’re a bit of a pirate ship actually. Frankly the idea of rehashing your existing radio programme into a podcast seems hopelessly stingey to me. Whatever else, we are not stingey with our hi-jinx. Or tight. Our message is don’t be parsimonious. Many in showbiz are and I can provide a list of names based on personal experience. Now where were we. Oh yes, the podcast. I’m not the greatest techy in the world but this is magnificent, kids. One listener says that the show helps him to fly. Literally, fly. That to me, is better than all the awards and showbiz parties in the world. Think about that. We podcast. He flies. That, in a nutshell, is how the industry is going if you ask me.”
The launch of the daily edition of the All Day Breakfast Show follows a short series of pilot episodes during March and April featuring special guest Peter Kay.

Of the remainder of the iTunes Top 15, twelve are produced by the BBC or other national media concerns and only three contain unique content that has not already been broadcast elsewhere.
Wippit will be actively seeking creative sponsorship and offering advertising opportunities going forward. The attention of the audience using personal devices to listen to the show through headphones is increased over listening to radio in ambient surroundings.
